We are the new Kennewick Coffee Company. Kennewick Coffee has been operating by new owners Cameron and Katy Mills since June of 2010. We have been proud to carry on the tradition of excellence in coffee and service from previous owner Tracy Pennington.

Before we bought the shop one of the most important things we had on our business-to-do-plan, was to inspire people towards a better quality of life… and to us that means; real friendships, intentional buying habits on our part, supporting local (neighbors and friends), encouraging deeper reflection on things around all of us, encouraging one another, and fostering creativity wherever it is willing to be fostered.

Part of this is we bring you the best coffee you can get in the tri cities, but, it is not only the best quality, it is the most ethically sourced coffee in the tri cities.  Not many people know, but coffee is the second largest traded commodity in the world, but coffee farmers are some of the hardest working poorest people you will find.  Much of this happens because of the continual challenge of the big business ideal of buy low and sell high, unfortunately the big coffee buyers are buying so low so consistantly that these people have a hard time eating or sending their children to school…   So, we have chosen to serve coffee that farmers are paid more for than any other coffee in eastern washington, the money goes right to them and not several middlemen.   So we pay more for our coffee by choice, to offer not only the best, but to participate in a system that helps farmers instead of helping them starve.  And we sell at a competetive price, SO remember you have the choice too.. participating in a system that is brutal, is being brutal.

We serve coffee from a micro-roasting company and cafe in Bend, Oregon specializing in direct trade, microlot, estate coffees of exceptional quality. Owners, Dave and Majell Beach, started the company based upon their need for perfectly roasted and brewed coffee. Backporch strives  ”to make your morning cup more than a bitter brew to get your caffeine buzz, we want to enliven your taste buds. We are coffee people, and we’re not ashamed to be called obsessive, or even a little crazy.
